Lips Pop, Lips Shine [Article]

Clear scented roll on lip glosses were a thing and definitely a holy grail for many high schoolers.

They were every girl’s favorite thing. At the time, that was the largest extent we could go when it came to wearing makeup.

After many years of tossing lip glosses to the curb and getting drawn to matte and cream lipsticks, the beauty scene has seen a major glow up with lip glosses which have evolved from the heavy and sticky textures of school days to more hydrating, plumping and lightweight formulas.

Lip glosses have become a must have product in my beauty collection because aside the fact that they give the lips some plump, they can be a life saver.

If your lips are chapped and you have no soothing lip balm to put on them, then lip gloss will do the trick.

Lip glosses are also great for when you want a subtle look with some color on your lips but you’re not looking for an intense solid lip color.

I don’t own any weird lip gloss because I always go for a nude shade lip gloss that is very dark skin friendly, matches my skin tone like it was custom made, is one that I can wear at all times and matches a lot of lip liner shades.

I totally love a clear and peachy lip gloss with a touch of sheer that has a balanced consistency, which isn’t too runny and not too thick, but also lightweight.

It normally glides on smoothly while I apply and does not leave my lips feeling heavy or oily because I love subtle and nude looks. I love lip glosses that give my lips some plump and a good amount of hydration.

I would usually line my lips with a brown liner, wear a nude shade of my favourite lipstick and apply a full sweep of lip gloss on my lower lips and press both lips together to have it evenly distributed.

There are lip glosses like Evita Joseph’s Utility and Kickoff on the market that you can opt for especially when going for a natural look. Kalira, a neighborhood beauty addict, hooked me up with these lip glosses and they have been totally amazing.

They have become a great option when I am trying to elevate my lipstick, whether it’s a neutral shade or a bold hue.

They contain macadamia nut oil which contributes to their hydrating properties so my lips don’t only look glam but stay hydrated as well.

Wearing lip glosses may seem simple but if you’re going for a classy and glam look, you definitely want to get it right. Keep in mind that you do not want your lips to look bleeding or smudgy so less is always enough when it comes to lip gloss application.
