Tuesday’s rain could not stop University of Ghana’s male volleyball team from establishing their reign over University of Education, Winneba in the ongoing Ghana University Sports Association Games.
The 1st set came to a quick conclusion with a 25-13 score in favour of UG.
Midway through the 2nd set, rain threatened to halt the progress of the game after it started to drizzle.
The 2nd set came to an end and it was still University of Ghana that was dominating the game. The score in the second set was 25-21.
Match officials, realizing that it was raining, consulted the two teams and brought the game to a halt.
With a clear sky now, the third set commenced and team UG continued from where they left off, winning comfortably by 25-17.
The matched ended 3:0 in favour of UG.
Although spectators believe that UG’s victory was easy and anticipated, Coach Casmil Agbenyegah of UG says otherwise.
He described the game as a tough game in which their opponents exceeded expectations.
“Today’s game was a game we decided to win so we decided to go all out and play. Seriously they played very very well and we did not expect them to play that way”
UG is unbeaten in the league and their next match is against UCC who have also remained unbeaten.
