Public Relation Officer of the Aduana Football Club, Evans Oppong has revealed that his charges are poised for the 2019 edition of the Betway Cup despite their inadequate preparations for the tournament.
The tournament, which is set to take place at the Len Clay Stadium on January 19 and 20, will feature Medeama SC, Liberty Professionals FC, Aduana Stars FC and Ashgold SC.
In an exclusive interview with UniversSports, Mr. Oppong admitted that most of the players are currently in camp and have kick started with serious training after the management of the club asked them to go on a break due to fatigue after their African campaign.
He further added that, though the players were out for some time, the management of the club is working tirelessly on them to bring out the best especially going into the competition.
“We are preparing for the tournament and we are under an obligation to play, our players looked exhausted after our African campaign, so they were asked to go on break we haven’t had enough preparation, but we are poised to make a mark at the tournament with some quick measures”
Meanwhile he also admitted that, the break away from football due to the Anas expose will affect the players but the coaches are diligently working on the mental toughness and fortitude of the players going into thetournament
“It’s not been good for us after the Anas expose, the break in football has affected us negatively especially the fitness level of the players,. But they were given some programs to learn during their break and I believe there is atelepathy and mentally within them is very strong”
