The last few weeks have seen countries all over the world compete for a spot in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup which will be hosted by Qatar.
The FIFA World Cup finals see 32 teams from six federations compete to be crowned as the best football country in the world.
The federation of Africa is run by CAF and Africa is allocated five slots in the FIFA finals taking place next year.
40 African countries are currently taking part in the second round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers for one of the spots that have been allocated to Africa.
Countries were put into ten groups of four teams each.
The countries that finish with the most points in each group of the second round will take part in the third round taking place next year in March.
Ten teams will then play two games and the five winners will go on to represent Africa in the finals in Qatar 2022.
The end is neigh for the second round of the African qualifiers; countries now only have two more games to play to finish at the top of the group.
At this stage, only Senegal from Group H and Morocco from Group I have advanced through and there are many groups that are still too close to call.
Burkino Faso and Algeria are the only teams with a chance in Group A, both countries have 10 points.
Tunisia only needs to win one of the upcoming games to finish top of Group B.
Group C has Nigeria leading with two points ahead of Cape Verde and a win for Nigeria over their next opponents Liberia should be enough to secure the lead.
Cameroon and Ivory Coast are neck and neck with only one point separating the two countries in Group D, both countries need to win each of their next games to top their group and it’s the same story for Group E with only two points between Mali and Uganda.
Egypt is leading Group F with four points and only needs to win their next encounter against Gabon on the 14th of November to move to the third round.
South Africa’s win over Ethiopia on Tuesday night put them ahead with one point over Ghana but both have to win both their next encounters to take Group G.
Tanzania and Benin in Group J are level at this stage and both teams need to win well to make it.
