Accra Hearts of Oak continued their CAF Champions League campaign with a second win in a row as they beat Wydad Athletic of Morocco 1-0 r in the first leg of the 2021 CAF Champions League second round qualifying at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians got a goal in the 40th minute of the game as striker Isaac Mensah met midfielder Ibrahim Salifu’s cross from the left side of the pitch into the box to hit it low into the net of Wydad.
The Ghana Premier Champions struggled in the early moments of the game in the first half as Wydad threated the goal area of Hearts of Oak with dangerous and pressing attacks. Hearts of Oak however found their feet in the last ten minutes of the game with wonderful attacking techniques leading to the goal in the stroke of half time.
The Wydad team and Samuel Boadu’s men in the second half gave the fans a beautiful close fought encounter as both sides hit each other with attacking threats with Wydad Athletic getting an equalizer but was called off for an offside by referee Helder Martins Rodrigues De Carvalho.
Hearts of Oak will travel to Morocco in the coming weeks to face Wydad Athletic in the second leg of the fixture with the Accra based club looking forward to move further to the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time since 2000.

Accra Hearts of Oak won their first match of the campaign against CI Kamsar by two goals to zero at the Accra Sports Stadium in a one leg encounter.
