Chief Executive Officer of Baby Jet Promotions, Samuel Anim Addo has hinted on the possibility of Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan retiring from active football after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
According to him, although they were indications that Gyan would hang his boots after the AFCON tournament, the ultimate decision rested with the Kayserispor forward.
“It’s likely he would like to quit football after the AFCON is over,” Samuel Addo told a local radio station in Accra.
“It is likely, with these kinds of things he’ll the best man to affirm it, and so I can’t say it on his behalf, but it’s likely. It’s likely, it’s a possibility.” He added.
Although Gyan is still being considered to be at the peak of his career despite a relatively poor performance at his current club, there have been calls from some soccer pundits calling for the retirement of the former Shanghai SIPG star from international football.
The Kayserispor attacker currently holds the record as the most capped Black Stars player with over 100 appearances out of which he has found the net 53 times for the National team.
Asamoah Gyan, 32, has been actively engaged in football for more than two decades and has represented Ghana at three FIFA World Cups and six Cup of Nations appearances.
