The Global Companion of Leadership has honoured Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu with a Companion of Global Excellence.
The honour was to recognize his service to humanity in the achievement of the world’s most coveted resolution of excellence and empowering generational people to develop in nation building and continental fire of global leadership by 2030.
Professor Oduro-Owusu was decorated at a short ceremony held at the Special Council Chamber of the University of Ghana on Thursday, January 3, 2019.
In making the announcement, Ambassador of the Global Public Excellence, Dr. Kwame Fordjour explained that the decision to honour the University of Ghana Vice-Chancellor was arrived at after extensive research activities by African governments and the United Nations.
“…we embark on great researches around the world [and] discover great people who are making our tomorrow’s world a better place and we found one best and great leadership of our landscape Ghana and Africa – Prof. Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu”
The Global Public Excellence Awards is a collective of diplomats and leadership from all walks of life that work on global resolutions. We are highly affiliated to the United Nations and governments that make our daily life work. So before we say we’re honouring you, all these people would have discovered and known you. – Dr. Fordjour remarked.
Receiving the honour, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu, who was pleased with the award, said leadership was one thing the continent needed to look at critically.
Explaining that the development of every institution or nation was dependent on the kind of leadership exhibited, the University of Ghana Vice-Chancellor challenged Ghanaians to exhibit good leadership qualities wherever they found themselves.
Leadership is one thing that we as Africans should look at critically. The development of any institution, nation and the world at large depends on leadership. We are leaders where ever we are [and] let us allow the tenets of good leadership shine where ever we are.” he stated
Professor Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu further urged Ghanaians to take up the responsibility of rebuilding the country for posterity sake
“So let us all get together as a nation. Let us realize that we have a responsibility as Ghanaians to rebuilt this nation for posterity, to make sure that tomorrow when we leave this nation, when God calls us to glory like the late Kofi Annan has been called to glory, we will have a legacy that posterity can thrive on” he added.

Other persons awarded at the ceremony include Mad. Cynthia Akwelley Lamptey, Mr. Sammy Heywood Okine, Mr. Daniel Nii Mensah and Mad. Gloria Commodore.
