Residents at the Mensah Sarbah Hall Annex B are getting frustrated as they have, since Sunday morning, been without electricity supply.
The power situation has been blamed on a fault with an underground cable connecting the Hall to electricity.
Roland, the electrician in the hall, says that efforts have been made to restore power in the hall.
“The problem had to do with a cable an underground cable and I was called on Sunday around 11 o’clock to come check the problem so I rush quickly to come and check where the problem is then I got to know that the problem was not coming from the hall but it has to do with the substation so I called the estate and then yesterday they came and rectify where the problem is currently it has to be with the underground cable,” he told UniversNews.
Residents of the hall have questioned why the plant has not been turned on after hours of darkness but the JCR President of the hall, Derek Okai has explained that they are facing few challenges with the industrial facility.
He says that the plant blew when they attempting switching it on.
Meanwhile, students residing in the hall, have told UniversNews about how the situation is affecting their academics.
“It has affected my studies because I have online classes and also, I have to create my time table and other stuff. My phone’s battery is not that good and it has made me migrate from this place to other halls just to charge my phone and laptops just to access my online schedules so the power outage is really hitting me,” one student said.
