It appears the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana is not fully ready to receive residents as some rooms are yet to be fumigated.
Usually, hall authorities, ahead of the commencement of an academic period, fumigate the rooms.
According to a porter at the hall, the routine fumigation exercise could not be undertaken in some rooms as they were occupied by some residents of the hall.
The porter added that although efforts were made to vacate the occupants, who were mainly residents of the hall, they refused to move out.
“Hall management is yet to fumigate rooms of Block B and E because those rooms were occupied by the vacationers who are mostly residents of the hall. Although we alerted them to vacate the rooms, they wanted to sign in for their normal rooms before leaving,” he said.
Online residential portal ‘jammed’
Some residents of the Commonwealth hall have reported that they are having challenges with their online residential application registration.
According to them, the portal is jammed, making it difficult for their residential registration a stressful exercise.
“I came early this morning to do my residential registration in order to access my room as fast as possible. However, I was not able to do so because the online portal was not working even though the site is opened,” one of the Commonwealth residents told UniversNews
