The Electoral Commission of the Alexander Adum Kwapong Hall has announced a decision to reschedule its Junior Common Room elections.
The election was scheduled for Friday, May 14, 2021, but the EC says that it cannot work with such a date.
The EC says that it is yet to conclude on a particular day for the election, but it says that it will be next week.
Acting Kwapong JCR Electoral Commissioner, Nana Kofi Ampong-Darkwah, in a statement announcing the postponement, accused the former EC Chair, Andy Enyimah, of jeopardizing the electoral process.
Nana Ampong-Darkwah said that Andy Enyimah had “failed to submit the key documents concerning the election to the office of the Dean of Students for approval while he was still in office as Electoral Commissioner”
“He deceived the JCR President that he had submitted the documents to the Dean’s Office. It is, however, funny to hear him say he resigned because there was mass interference from JCR Executives in the execution of his duties,” the statement added.
Nana Ampong-Darkwah further narrated that “it was not until the afternoon of Wednesday, May 12, 2021, that he [Andy Enyimah] made it known that those important officials documents were still in his custody and that he had not submitted them.”
In the statement, it was also alleged that Andy Enyimah, was ‘begging’ to be reappointed onto the Commission.
Ampong-Darkwah believes that “all these are episodes in a staged machination to delay the creaseless seamless and unlined election processes we have had until this point by certain ill-meaning individuals who have devoted themselves to the promotion of malevolent shenanigans.”
