Former President Jerry John Rawlings has called on Ghanaians to be more action oriented with their thoughts in order to help bring about a significant change in the country.
According to him, most Ghanaians are good at pointing out problems rather than solving them and this, he says, does not in any way push for national development.
“I have always talked about the prayer of thought, the prayer of words but Ghanaians don’t indulge in enough prayer of action.
We think it, we wish it, we have it in our heads and sometimes we sit and we hardly ever organise ourselves and translate some of those thoughts and organise some actions,” he said
He further urged the youth to rise against all forms of injustice in the country to help reduce the rate of crimes and also promote development of Ghana. .
“The average age of you people around here will be about 23 to 24. That is one of the finest time of your lives in terms of energy, determination, tenacity, exciter a. Nothing beats that age. And you can sit down and allow thieves to come and harass you and make you so uncomfortable? You can deal with it. Don’t expect the police to come and do it for you. You can deal with it”.
He made these statements in his speech delivery during the third revolutionary lecture series held at the R.S Amegashie Conference Hall at the University of Ghana Business School.
The lecture was on the theme: A Call to Developing a National Character for Sustainable Good Governance.
