The Alexander Adum Kwapong Hall will soon have security personnel to ensure the safety of residents of the hall; the Senior Hall Tutor has announced.
In an engagement with UniversNews, the Senior Hall Tutor of the Kwapong Hall, Dr. Kwame Asamoah noted that the hall management had already begun the process of recruiting security personnel to replace the former security personnel who were laid off during the first semester break.
According to Dr. Kwame Asamoah, the former security personnel were sacked after the hall management deemed their performance as unsatisfactory.
“The security that we had, their performance was not up to our expectation so we thought it wise that we should be able to change them. We are in the process of getting people to takeover and I do assure you that it is something that we are seriously working on to get people so we pay them” he said
Aside the Kwapong Hall doing away with their security, the three other Diaspora halls – Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall, Hilla Limann Hall and the Jean Nelson Aka Hall, also sacked their security personnel during the first semester break.
Concerns over the impropriety of the security personnel employed by management of the various diaspora halls have been raised on several occasions by the Head of University of Ghana’s security, Mr. George Amofa.
According to Mr. George Amofa, he has on several times called on the management of the diaspora halls to allow him train their security so they be up to standards but they have all fallen on deaf ears.
