Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said that he has offered prayers to Allah for the realization of government’s vision to drive the economy of the country beyond foreign aid.
He made this known when he arrived in Accra on Sunday from Mecca, Saudi Arabia after performing this year’s Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj.
Interacting with the press, Dr. Bawumia indicated that he and the other participants in this year’s Hajj made prayers for the nation and her citizens to continue dwelling in peace.
“We dedicated our prayers to the continued peace, unity and prosperity of our beloved country. We will continue to pray for the growth and success of our dear nation, especially in this holy period.” he said
The Veep further said that they had also prayed for government to realize its dream of ushering the country above the benevolence of foreign donors.
He also made known to the press that whilst in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he paid a courtesy call on the ruler of the Arabian Kingdom, King Salman bin Abdulaziz al- Saud to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
In elation, Bawumia expressed his appreciation to the entire Muslim community, especially the National Chief Imam, Shaykh Dr. High Sharabutu “for his continuous guidance and leadership role in our beloved nation.”
Bawumia departed Accra for Mecca in Saudi Arabia on August 17, 2018 in the company of his wife, Samira Bawumia, to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj.
Performing Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and fulfills one of the conditions for total submission to the will of Allah.
