A form two student of the Oyoko Methodist Senior High School in the Eastern Region has died, the Ghana Education Service has announced.
The student has been identified as Jennifer Naa Doku Bolor.
She is said to have died on Thursday, July 30, after writing her last exam paper of the semester on that particular day.
According to the Ghana Education Service, Jennifer, after writing the exam reported sick to the school nurse and while she was being attended to, collapsed and was rushed to the St. Joseph Hospital.
“Jennifer unfortunately died on arrival at the emergency ward. Management of GES is waiting for the hospital authorities for the cause of death,” a statement signed by the Head of GES’ Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo reads.
This is, at least, the third reported incident of death of a student in a Senior High School since schools were partially reopened for students.
The first incident was at the KNUST SHS where a final year student died after school authorities allegedly refused to attend to him when he was complaining of stomach upset during the day.
