The Ghana Education Service (GES) has distributed 10 million facemasks to schools throughout the country to protect teachers and students against the spread of the coronavirus disease.
GHS Director-General, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye says that it is part of its preparedness to ensure that students return safely to school amidst the rise in Covid cases in the country.
He mentioned work is already underway to upgrade facilities that were not fit for the purpose.
Three Covid-19 cases have however been recorded in schools since they reopened last week.
Of the three cases, two were recorded in separate schools in the Upper West Region, whereas one was in a school in the Western Region.
According to Dr. Aboagye, in one of the cases in the Upper West Region, the student had a record of undertaking some activity in neighboring Burkina Faso.
