Members of the Linguistics Department at the University of Ghana are expected to go to the polls today Monday, August 23, 2021, to elect substantive leaders for the 2021/2022 academic year.
Nine candidates will be vying for six positions in the Association’s executive body.
The President position is interestingly contested by three ladies namely; Josephine Adidawoe Doh, Yolanda Kwadey, and Silvia Wobil.
The Vice President position is contested by Joytir Amponsah and Samuel Ackom.
The Secretary position is contested by Ama Ansah Tracy and Theophilus Garbin.
The Treasurer and Organizer positions are uncontested by Fawaz Amponsah and Isaac Appiah-Kubi respectively.
A total number of 2537 voters are expected to turn out for the elections today.
A room at the African Union Hall in the University of Ghana has been designated as the strongroom for the monitoring for the elections this year.
