Executive Producer of the Legon GUSA 2020 Media team, Nii Adoquaye Cudjoe, has attributed the success of the 2020 edition of the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games to the extraordinary effort of radio Univers volunteers who showed great initiative. Speaking exclusively to UniverSports, Mr. Adoquaye commended the Station Manager of Radio Univers, Dr. Ahlaji Abubakar Sidique Ahmed, for his ingenuity in ensuring quality in the coverage of the Legon GUSA 2020 team.
“Thankfully we had Ajhaji, the station manager who doubled up as chairman of the subcommittee who also believed in making a chase for the station and volunteers. Sowe checked the ideas that we could implement and we came back to the idea of being a host broadcaster and all I needed was to inspire the team. I told them it was a competition and I am going to hold myself as a coach and they are going to be my players on the field and they did not disappoint me. From GTV sports plus crew to all the level 100s,200s,300s and 400s” – he stated.
Speaking on the media coverage for the Legon GUSA 2020 games, Mr. Nii Adoquaye admitted that this was the first time that the University of Ghana Computing Systems had been involved in the coverage of sports events. He further revealed that the team had to resort to firefighting to correct hitches that popped up.
“We also the University of Ghana Computing Systems Multimedia Unit also coming on board. This was the first time covering anything sports. They have been doing usually congregational and academic coverage. We needed to do a production that looks like we have been doing sports coverage all the time and everybody came around and it was a firefighting process because we had to be correcting the mistakes that were made in the initial stages because usually for such productions that we have had elsewhere sometimes it takes us 30 days planning but we had less than a week to put all these together” – he added.
Mr. Adoquaye went ahead to congratulate all the sports coverage teams and urged them to always be available to the future GUSA games.
