A Health Educator at the University of Ghana School of Public Health, Mr. Benson Owusu, has warned Ghanaians, particularly the youth, against use of breast-enhancing creams.
Mr. Benson emphasized that such creams and lotions contain chemicals which most often are toxic to the health of women and their breasts.
Moreover, overwhelming research attests to their carcinogenic effects.
Speaking on the rising trend of such smearing creams particularly in Senior High Schools and among the youth, Mr. Owusu worded “Why should it matter whether your breasts are physically big or not? Too huge breasts even affect the back. Let us all learn to appreciate what we have”.
The Health Expert, who also works with Quick Medical Consult here in Accra, dished out further that the reason for younger Breast Cancer patients in recent years can be attributed to lifestyle choices.
Mr. Owusu emphatic on the role of diet choices and pointed out how canned foods are toxic also to breast-care development.
Mr. Benson Owusu educated further on the need for regular check-ups in order to raise optimum breast-care and encouraged women to desist from such related shyness promising that confidentiality was a huge medical principle.
October marks World Breast Cancer Awareness month annually.
Mr. Benson Owusu was speaking on Radio Univers’ Civic Education Programme “ObiaraNka Bi” hosted by Andy Asante Okyere.
