The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) have condemned some comments passed by His Excellency President Nana AkufoAddo concerning the new Public University Bill.
The New Public university bill which is set to regulate the activities of all public universities in the country have received several backlashes from some relevant stakeholders such as UTAG as well as students.
UTAG, since government discussed this new draft, have expressed dissatisfaction with some sections of the bill and effectively calling for amendments.
UTAG, per a latest release signed by its national president, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah, have described as unfortunate and worrying comments passed by the president of the republic pertaining to contributions made by its members on the bill.
According to UTAG, the president, His Excellency President Nana AkufoAddo while speaking at the graduation ceremony of UPSA stated that concerns raised by some members of UTAG on the new draft are “flimsy, mischief-making and disingenuous”, a situation UTAG finds as inappropriate.
The Association further states per the communique, that it is important that the ministry of education reviews the current bill as discussed by some major stakeholders before forwarding it to parliament for approval.
