The address comes after the country received its first batch of Covid vaccines on Wednesday, February 24, 2021

Akufo-Addo’s address is also ahead of the government’s planned launch of a vaccination drive on Tuesday, March 2.

Covid infections are expected to reduce when the vaccination begins.

With some Ghanaians still skeptical about the safety of the vaccines, President Akufo-Addo, in his address, is expected to assure citizens and urge them to accept the doses.

What he said in Update 23

In his last address, which was on January 31, the President announced the reimposition of restrictions.

At the time, there were concerns over the rate at which the active cases were increasing.

“So, fellow Ghanaians, until further notice, funerals, weddings, concerts, theatrical performances, and parties are banned. Private burials, with no more than twenty-five (25) people, can take place, with the enforcement of the social distancing, hygiene, and mask-wearing protocols. Beaches, nightclubs, cinemas, and pubs continue to be shut. Our borders by land and sea remain closed,” he announced.
