The President of the Students’ Representative Council of the University of Ghana Distance Education, Mr. Stanley Mahoney has debunked claims that the SRC will be leading the student front to organize a demonstration against management.
Speaking this morning on Campus Exclusive, he said, the news which went viral emerged from some concerned students who are aggrieved about the nature of their facilities of learning.
If listeners may recall that information about a demonstration purported to have come from the camp of the SRC of the Distance Education went viral on social media a few days after students took to the streets at KNUST to get their voices heard.
According to the President, the SRC know nothing about the said demonstration.
“On the issue of demonstration, distance education SRC know nothing about it. We saw it in the media that some concerned students want to embark on a demonstration. I received the link to that story from my HOD outside the country via WhatsApp. SRC knows nothing about the demonstration.”
He further noted that, even though the students have genuine concerns, demonstration is not the best option to get their issues resolved since management is poised to address their concerns.
“The issues they are raising are true, they are real. Last week we met with management and we forwarded most of the issues and they gave us an assurance that those that they can solve will be looked at within the shortest possible time”.
