Defending Champions Mensah Sarbah Hall begin their campaign today against a very ambitious opposition in Distance Education.
On paper, the former seem to be a thousand metres ahead, but due to the massive exodus of players who have graduated out of the university, the Distance Education soccer team will fancy their chances against the Pride of main campus.
The task however looks sisyphean, as the Distance are still without a tactical brain who can spur them on to a glorious campaign.
Mensah Sarbah Hall Soccer team however are yet to loose a game in regulation, since 2016, and have already been tagged favorites to lift this year’s trophy as well.
There is however a bit of uncertainty with William Klomega and Bawa out.
TEAM NEWS AND COACHES
Coach Opanka is 2 matches away from reaching a 10-match winning streak in the league with the Vikings.
The Sarbah boss is in high hopes that his charges will deliver. “We still have a strong team and we can win the league again this year” he said
Sarbah First Goalkeeper Pius has been ruled out of today’s game due to match fitness and second choice Omar Atiga is expected to man the post for the Vikins. New signing Alexander (Okpo Marcelo)is likely to replace the former Wa All Stars and Sarbah Defensive rock, Bawa, now plying his trade abroad. All eyes will however be on Daniel Yekple who is expected to be the key man for the Vikins having registered 7 goals in last season’s campaign.
FORMAT OF LEAGUE
The matches will be played with needing a compulsory winner with drawn matches forcing penalty shootouts to decide a winner. Unlike previous years, this year’s format is a single round robin, with just a single match against competing teams in a group.
