Forever Construction and Consultancy Limited, a building construction and real estate developing company has launched and unveiled the Affordable Housing Project as part of their 10th Anniversary of the company in Ghana. At the launch of the project, the Head of Corporate and Strategy of the company, Mr. Cecil Owusu Addo expressed his appreciation to all who had gathered at the program. He further hinted that the project would roll our affordable semi-detached houses for Ghanaians.
“We are ten years old today and we are launching our housing project. Someone ask why we are doing this? We are doing this because in life we have to progress and this is a progression that we want everybody to see and witness and acknowledge. So ten years we are proud to do this, affordable housing projects which is a Semi-detached house. We have incorporated our prices it is as low as anything.” He said.
Also speaking at the launch, Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Samuel Atta Kyea encouraged the resolve by private individuals to roll of affordable housing in the country. He, however, expressed concern on the facts that Ghanaians are unable to purchase houses upfront. This he said is a challenge for the country.
“The whole issue of Affordable housing is the supply and demand analysis. The ministry has a whole catalog of individuals who want to roll out the affordable housing and we are encouraging them to do so and we will provide the necessary guarantee for them to build the houses. But what is important like what this company is doing is that granted that the houses are built all over the country that even the size of the pocket of the average Ghanaian how are they going to own the houses. It is very few of them who can do that.” he said.
He added that the Ministry would engage credible banks that would aid them to roll out a mortgage regime in the country to enable Ghanaians to purchase affordable houses.
“But all over the world, there is no way they say a worker should pay for a house upfront. I want to stress on that there rather what they call a mortgage regime. So we have banks that will give a mortgage regime and is credible. Because this mortgage regime we want to create, we will create it from the pension fund. It is not going to choke the off-taker, it is been properly spread over time.” He said.
The program was organized on the 1st of March 2019.
