A penalty in the 61st minute helped the Ghana Institute of Journalism to secure their second win in the 26th edition of the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
GIJ, until their Saturday morning game, had claimed victory in just one game – against the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
University of Energy and Natural Resources, who were favourites to win the game, struggled to find the net despite several attempts.
After committing a foul in the 18-yard box, the referee whistled and gave GIJ a chance to score from the spot, an opportunity they made use of.
Their victory over UENR places them 9th on the league table with 8points,
GIJ’s appearance in this year’s GUSA games is their first.
