The 55th UG Total Inter Hall Athletics is scheduled to come off from Wednesday, 10th to Friday, 12th October, 2018 at the UG Stadium at 2:00 pm each day.
Athletes from all the residential Halls, City Campus and Distance Education will participate in both track and field events. The Competition is being sponsored by Total Ghana Limited and Promasidor.
The competition will be under the patronage of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, ASA, Professor Samuel Kwame Offei who is the Chairman of the University of Ghana Sports Advisory Board.
Athletes to Watch
UG Inter-Hall Athletics has always showcased good and quality athletes. Athletes such as Raja Lagbla Komla, Francis Yin and Emmanuel Nimo all beneficiaries of University of Ghana Policy on the Admission of Athlete Students (UG-PAAS) will be threat to the likes of Joseph Mensah and Blance Otoo in the Sprints. In the female category Comfort Esinam will once again seek to cement her name in the 100 and 200 meters. However, she will face strong competition from another UG-PAAS beneficiary Esther Ocloo.
Window for Selection
The athletics Coaches will be watching keenly as they finalise their team for the West Africa University Games slated for Port Harcourt, Nigeria from 30th October to 13th November 2018 as well as the Mini Ghana Universities Sports Association Games to be hosted by Kwame Nkrumah University for Science and Technology, Kumasi in January 2019.
There will be medals for the 1st to 3rd positions in each event as well as a trophy for the overall winning Hall, best male and female athletes and the Most Promising athlete.
The competition will be graced by Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu (Vice-Chancellor), Professor Kwame Offei (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs (ASA)), The Registrar (UG), Prof. Godfred Alufar Bokpin (Ag. Dean of Student Affairs), members of University of Ghana Sports Advisory Board, members of Sports Directorate Management Committee, Management of the various Halls, Student Sports Council (SSC) and the Executives of Students’ Representative Council (SRC). Other invited guests include Dr. Daniel Mckorley (Honourary Sports Patron), UG Sports Ambassador and Patrons and Mr. Saka Acquaye (Deputy Director, Technical, National Sports Authority).
