Sprint Coach of the University of Ghana Athletics team Elorm Amenakpor is confident his athletes will improve on their times in their various categories in the upcoming events in December 2021 and April 2022.
The Legon Creative Athletics Club will compete in the maiden edition of the Junior Olympics on the 17th and 18th of December 2021 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games in April 2022.
Team UG will be participating in the 4x100m, 100m, and 4×400 mixed in the Junior Olympics in Kumasi.
Speaking exclusively to Univers Sports on the sidelines of the team’s training session, Coach Elorm went to list the events to participate in the games.
Here we train smart so we keep improving, last season there was a vast improvement and every athlete improved and we have a competition to go to and is the season starter and we are hoping to see some impressive time run there.
Team UG will be participating in the 4x100m, 100m, and 4×400 mixed”
Coach Elorm also advised athletes to be responsible in their training because 70% of the work will be done by them to improve themselves and their Athletic times.
“Over here, we run a scientific approach to training so athletes don’t come here and carry heavy metal and run long distances that will improve your time but as we the coaches are doing our best, it is up to the athletes.
As we leave here I will not follow them to their halls and they are going to be there alone so if I tell you to rest, you need to be discipline and rest”
