#UCLDraw: Ronaldo to go back ‘home’ as Juventus-Man United end up in the same group

Current World Best Footballer Christiano Ronaldo will be going back ‘home’ as Serie A champions Juventus and Manchester United are drawn in Group H of the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League after Thursday evening’s draw in Monaco, France.

This season’s Champions League promises to be an exciting one with some mouthwatering encounters when the group stages begin Tuesday, September 18.

Tottenham have a tough task to make it through to the last 16 of the Champions League after they were drawn in Group B with Spanish champions Barcelona.

Manchester City, after the draw, appears to have an easier route to the knockout stages with Shakhtar Donetsk being the toughest opponents in Group F.

Aside from Ronaldo and Juventus providing a difficult challenge, United should face easier rides against Valencia and Young Boys.

But Ronaldo’s reunion can’t be dismissed as the 33-year-old tries to win the Champions League for the fourth year in a row.

In Group B, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham will be tested for the second year running. Pochettino’s side is no stranger to tough groups. They were pitted against Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid last season and both were beaten.

But this season has presented a scenario that will put his side under more scrutiny. As well as Barcelona, who Tottenham have never beaten, Pochettino’s side will play PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Kaka and Manchester United favourite Diego Forlan conducted Thursday’s draw at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

THE GROUPS

Group A:Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, Club Brugge

Group B:Barcelona, Tottenham, PSV, Inter Milan

Group C:Paris St-Germain, Napoli, Liverpool, Red Star Belgrade

Group D:Lokomotiv Moscow, Porto, Schalke, Galatasaray

Group E:Bayern Munich, Benfica, Ajax, AEK Athens

Group F:Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon, Hoffenheim

Group G:Real Madrid, Roma, CSKA Moscow, Viktoria Plzen

Group H:Juventus, Manchester United, Valencia, Young Boys

The final will be played on June 1, 2019, at Atletico Madrid’s home, the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.
