Football Administrator and President of Neoplan stars, Jonathan Abbey Pobe has objected to calls for Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor to be sacked following an unimpressive display in the 2022 world cup qualifiers.
CK Akonnor’s job as head coach of the Black Stars has come under threat as have Ghanaians called for him to be sacked after losing to South Africa in the second World Cup qualifier on Monday.
Speaking exclusively to UniversSports, Jonathan Abbey Pobe however was of the view that, if CK Akonnor was going to be sacked, his bosses should be sacked as well.
“why are we talking about CK Akonnor, if there’s anything those people who appointed CK Akonnor must be sacked. 30 million Ghanaians have asked you to purchase a machine for the nation to use and then you people are saying CK Akonnor should be sacked then that means those who brought CK didn’t do well. Those who brought CK must be asked out” he said.
He added that the poor performance of the Blackstars is beyond that of the coach and that the country has not managed the football industry well.
“We need to organize the Blackstars well. This issue is beyond the coach. We have to sit down as a nation and find out why things are happening like that. This has been the worst performance since 2005, 2006. The performances were below average.”
