Another promising weekend of the English Premier League is upon us once again, and Sir Kay is back with his weekly predictions on the various matches that will be played.
Wolves vs. Leicester (Saturday 12:30pm):
Wolves were absolutely torn apart by Man City last time and it looked like they had punched too high above their weight. Nuno Espirito Santo has been impressive with his counter attacking football and has caused a lot of problems to the big boys this season. Leicester will also be very happy to just sit back and try to catch Wolves on the counter. It is an even game here which could easily go both ways, but I think Wolves will just nick it because of their home advantage since they have been pretty solid at the Molineux.
Sir Kay Predicts: Wolves 2:1 Leicester
Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace (Saturday 3pm):
Crystal Palace know it all about pulling off some great upsets in terms of coming up against title challengers. They did it in December when they beat Man City by 3 goals to 2 at the Etihad. I felt Zaha let down Palace last week when they lost to Watford due to his selfishness. Liverpool will have to be careful here since Roy Hodgson’s men can really cause them problems with the pace of Zaha and Townsend. But if Liverpool wins here, it could give them a major boost and strengthen their title credentials. I’ll go for a Liverpool win here as I believe they will grind out a result here but Crystal Palace could get a point here if Palace are not wasteful in front of goal when they do get their chances.
Sir Kay Predicts: Liverpool 2:1 Crystal Palace
Watford vs. Burnley (Saturday 3pm):
How on earth did Burnley win against Fulham last weekend without having a single shot on target? I don’t see them winning or getting any point here though they have turned the corner recently. I fancy Watford winning here as they have been impressive in their past 3 games and Troy Deeney seems to be rediscovering his goal scoring touch.
Sir Kay Predicts: Watford 2-0Burnley
Newcastle vs. Cardiff City (Saturday 3pm)
No disrespect to Cardiff City here, but I don’t think they have done well enough to deserve to be in this league for another season. They haven’t added much to the league this season like we expected them to do. Newcastle have been unlucky to have come up against two big guns over the past two weeks and though they lost they were brilliant and could have easily gotten something out of those games, had they taken their chances. I expect Newcastle to win here as I don’t believe Cardiff will pose enough threat.
Sir Kay Predicts: Newcastle 2-0 Cardiff
Man Utd vs. Brighton (Saturday 3pm)
Manchester United did well against Spurs last weekend but they were exposed quite too often in the second half and could have been easily battered had it not been for the heroics of De Gea. I think Lindelof has done well in recent times but United still need to sort out their centre back issues and they need to do so in this transfer window if they have the chance. They have kept two clean sheets in their past two premier league games and you can see them growing in confidence. Brighton did well last weekend by restricting Liverpool to just a 1 goal win but I think they will get well beaten here as United will seek to make it 7 out of 7 for Ole.
Sir Kay Predicts: Man Utd 3-0 Brighton
Bournemouth vs. West Ham (Saturday 3pm):
What a performance that was from West Ham against Arsenal last weekend, Samir Nasri and Felipe Anderson were just impressive but they need to start doing that on a more consistent basis. Bournemouth have been disappointing lately especially away from home but I wouldn’t want to go against them here since this game could go eitherway. I’ll go for a slim victory here for Bournemouth just because they play much better at home than away.
Sir Kay Predicts: Bournemouth 2-1 West Ham
Southampton vs. Everton (Saturday 3pm)
Southampton were solid in defense against Leicester but they could have easily lost especially after going down by a man. Everton on the other hand also needed the win and they deservedly got it there. I see this match panning out to be a draw as I expect it to be a cagey encounter with both managers settling for a draw.
Sir Kay Predicts: Southampton 1:1 Everton
Arsenal vs. Chelsea (Saturday 5:30pm)
Arsenal were absolutely poor against West Ham last week as the attacking duo of Lacazette and Aubameyang doesn’t seem to be working effectively. They have to win here or else they should say goodbye to their Champions League qualification hopes. Unai Emery will definitely be eyeing getting one over Sarri since he lost to him earlier in the first round. Chelsea hasn’t been at their best since the turn of the year but they haven’t played badly either though the results are just not going in their favor. It will be a difficult call here but I’ll have to go with Chelsea here as the attitude of the Gunner’s players in recent times doesn’t show they really want to win a game.
Sir Kay Predicts: Arsenal 1:2 Chelsea
Huddersfield Town vs. Man City (Sunday 1:30pm)
This should be a straight victory for Man City as things could really get ugly for Huddersfield Town here especially after the departure of David Wagner this week. You can see clearly that the Huddersfield board didn’t want the new manager to face City that’s why they decided to appoint him after their game against City. I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of Mark Hudson right now as I see nothing but they being ripped apart by an in form Man City who has scored 19 goals in their last 3 matches in all competitions which is one more than Huddersfield has scored (18) in their last 36 games in all competitions.
Sir Kay Predicts: Huddersfield Town 1-5 Man City
Fulham vs Tottenham ( Sunday 4pm)
Weeks ago I would have predicted an easy win here for Tottenham but I think Fulham do have a chance now due to the injury crisis that has just hit Tottenham. Harry Kane is out till March and Sissoko is also out though his injury is not as bad as was first feared, Son is also out on international duties and could be kept there until February 10th dependent on his side’s performance in the Asian Championships. Fulham will give Spurs a run for their money here. I’ll go for a Fulham win here because of how they have played in the past weeks and their home advantage, though Spurs could still easily trash them.
Sir Kay Predicts: Fulham 2:1 Tottenham
