Ace Ghanaian football administrator, Mr. Jonathan Abbey Pobee has slammed the two biggest political parties in Ghana, New Patriotic Party, and National Democratic Congress on the role they have played in the football in Ghana.
Speaking exclusively to Kwesi Live on the Sports Express Show on Radio Univers 105.7fm Wednesday evening, the experienced football enthusiast aggressively slammed the two parties labeling them as saboteurs of Ghana football.
According to him, they have collapsed Ghana football by paying outrageous amounts of money to the Black Stars for tournaments.
It is been reported that the Ministry of Youth & Sports will be presenting a budget of $7.5m to parliament as the official money to be spent on the AFCON 2019. This news has not gone down well with a lot of football-loving Ghanaians who believe this move is totally wrong considering the fact that the prize money for the winner of the tournament is a little over $4m.
“I have said time and again that NPP and NDC are collapsing Ghana football and people have been arguing with me. They have been spending uselessly on our national teams and that has cost us a lot. How can you spend this amount of money on the nation in a competition where we know their chances of winning is even minimal? “
Head Coach Kwesi Appiah has already named his final 23-man squad for the tournament and is set to play its final preparatory match against South Africa after losing narrowly 1-0 to Namibia.
