Huge boost for GUSA football team as Association gets $7,000 Covid-19 relief cash

The amount was presented to the Association on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

General Secretary of the GFA, Prosper Harrison Addo, did the presentation.

Receiving the cheque, Co-opted member of GUSA, Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu was happy that the GFA had heeded their plea.

“Our strategy of the new GUSA is really working because we plan to improve on our past and so we try to do things accordingly and more effectively and so we decided to come as a delegation to the GFA and out of these visits is what we are now seeing the fruits,” Dr. Bello said.

Public Relations Officer of the Association, Fokuo Asante, speaking to UniversSports, disclosed that the money will help them secure participation in some international competitions, particularly, for their football team.

“We met the Ghana Football Association President and other executive council members and we appealed to them that they should try as much as possible to pay our international competition and participation fee for our football team. The FA president promised to try as much as possible to sort GUSA out in that direction. Fortunately for us, when the covid -19 relief fund came, they alerted that the amount we requested for, which is €500 and equivalent to $ 7,000 it was just this Wednesday we went for the cheque.”

Asante Forkuo also lauded the GFA for the gesture.

“We are so much appreciative of the fact that the GFA has been able to help us in this direction. Now the headache of going to seek sponsorship to pay for our participation has been taken by the GFA. We are so much glad and grateful to the GFA President, the General Secretary, and everyone involved.”
