President of the Ghana Athletics Association, Prof Francis Dodoo, has been appointed as Chairman of the World Athletics’ newly created Governance Commission.
This was announced in a press statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), Bawa Fuseini.
Prof. Dodoo becomes the only African chairing a commission of the global body.
The former national and African triple jump champion will chair a 12-member Governance Commission which includes other distinguished personalities from the world of athletics such as Sylvia Barlag (NED), Carlota Castrejana (ESP), Dagmar Freitag (GER), Helio Gest de Melo (BRA), Inaki Gomez (CAN), David Grace (AUS), Leung Hon Shun (CHN), Jinaro Kibet (KEY), Sirje Lippe (EST), Ronald Russell (ISV) and Norman Wain (USA).
It is worth noting Prof. Francis Dodoo is also the Pro Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Innovation and Development (ORID) at the University of Ghana.
