The National Badminton Association of Ghana, has Scheduled 6th-10th March for the upcoming National Badminton Mixed Team Invitational Championship Event.
The event, which is to take place at the GPHA Sports Centre in Tema, is expected to bring together some of Ghana’s finest talents from across the Nation.
Spokesperson for the National Badminton Association, Mr. Parker Nartey, has stated that the event is structured to ensure objectivity in the selection of National Representatives while it allows competitors from all other regions even where the sport is less patronized to show their prowess in the game.
Opinions have been widely divided with a number of big names expected to make the cut or pick up one of the few slots, with the 2019 All African games and 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo around the corner.
Notable amongst them are Daniel Essam, Emmanuel Donkor, Abraham Ayittey all of whom are big names in the men’s single, with Talented Grace Ati- Parker tipped to dominate women’s event.
This initiative by the Ghana Badminton association has been lauded by the Badminton community in Ghana as many see it as a proactive a long-term approach to maintaining higher badminton standards, with the Ghana Badminton series being the first of its kind.
