Former Ghanaian international footballer, Alhaji Mohammed Polo, popularly known as the dribbling magician has expressed his discomfort over the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s decision to name a foreigner as the new technical director.
The GFA is set to appoint German trainer Bernhard Lippert as the replacement for Francis Oti Akenteng.
“It’s very unfortunate. As for appointing a foreigner as the technical director, I am not in line with that. This is because we have to know that we have grown in football and if you are not empowered, you don’t even get the system properly and everything you do, you have to be able to put into practice to be able to achieve it and we have the men who can achieve it and we have the men who can do it”. He told Universports.
Polo believes Ghana has its own system of football and should be developed. He made reference to Brazil’s brand of football, Samba.
“We have our brand of football. Brazil started conquering the world because of their samba football. The moment they started playing like the Europeans, they failed in the 2014 World Cup. Look at how Germany embarrassed them with 7-1.so we have competent men, all of us are available.”
