Blackstars Head Coach, CK Akonnor, has admitted that the team has attacking problems after playing out a goalless draw with Ivory Coast in the second of friendlies on Saturday at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The Black Stars has failed to score in two games; against Morocco and Ivory Coast, despite playing different attackers in the games.
CK Akonnor, speaking after the Ivory Coast game, stressed that there was a need to find a goalscorer to improve the team upfront.
“We need to improve, I mean if there is anybody who is a scorer and he is good we look for that person but so far what we have now we have to work and improve in the area because it is very important for us because without goals you wouldn’t be a winner,” he told the media
He added that he has a settled squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers later this year.
“It was a bit difficult for us but in all fairness, it was a good exercise to assess their fitness levels and also for the technical teams to pencil down a squad that is good and balanced enough with the inclusion of Wakaso and others to face our opponents when the World Cup qualifiers begin. I believe that going forward there would be improvement in the subsequent games.”
The Black Stars begin their World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia on September 1, 2021.
