Kumasi Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Mariano Barreto has expressed his dissatisfaction with respect to some decisions made by referee Emmanuel Tampuri in their game against Legon Cities.
The Porcupine Warriors proved too strong for The Royals by beating them by a goal to nil on match day 22 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season at the Accra Sport Stadium
Speaking in the post-match interview, Barreto said mistakes are bound to happen but referees should improve on their performance when officiating.
“They [the referees] have to work hard to learn the rules of the game, because what we saw made me feel ashamed. In football, we make mistakes but it is not possible to make mistakes always against the same team. For me it is very difficult to understand,” he said.
According to him, he felt the players were not protected by the referee after the porcupine warriors had to substitute left-back Imoro Ibrahim due to an injury he picked up during the match.
He went on to congratulate his players for securing victory after coming back from defeat in the in the previous week and will be a big boost as they prepare to face Dreams FC in the next game week.
The Portuguese gaffer took the mantle as coach for the 24-time Ghana Premier League champions in mid-season and has led them through 5 games including Saturday’s win.
