University of Ghana’s Azameti Benjamin made amends for his failure to reach medal position at the West African University Games (WAUG) in Port Harcourt, when he beat Ansah Sarfo and Aggrey Barnabas all of the University of Development studies to finish in Gold position.
The Race was marred by extreme tension and anxiety saw three of the finalists automatically Disqualified as they were shown cards for falling prey to false starts.
The three-man show down then ended in victory for the Young Progidy who has vouched to take the world by storm, after finishing fastest at the Coast Stadium, in a time of 10.60sec. (a personal best).
Azameti however failed to break Sarfo’s record set last year at Tamale(10.41sec).
Benjamin express his excitement at winning the medal.
“I owe it to hard work, and thank all my coaches for the exposure and the training techniques, they were very helpful” .
He also congratulated his competitors for a very good contest.
In other events, Ansah Sarfo fought hard to retain gold in the 200m which is seen as a great consolation for the Champion.
