The 2021 MTN Football Association Cup is set to begin on Friday, May 14, 2021.
The competition is played between clubs of the Premier League, Division One League, Ghana Division Two League.
This year, matches will be played from the weekend through to Monday, May 17, 2021.
Forty eight (48) Division One Clubs and forty-four (44) Division Two clubs across the country will play at this stage of the competition.
The 18 Premier League clubs will join the winners of the preliminary stage for the Round of 64.
A draw for this year’s competition took place a week ago.
The teams were placed in ten zones created on the basis of team locations.
The GFA said that this format was chosen to prevent teams from travelling long distances to honour the matches.
According to the GFA, the participating teams will get an amount of GHS 1,500 and the funds will increase as they progress through the competition.
The Association also said that between the preliminary round and the round of 16, matches that end in draws after regulation time will be settled by penalty shootouts.
However, extra time will be used from the quarter final onwards.
