I bring you warm greetings from your “children” on the Accra City Campus of our noble university.
May you live long Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.
I am very honoured to write to you this letter.
Prof, we are convinced of the love and care you have for all students of this university including those of us on the satellite campuses.
We hail you for that Sir.
I am much aware of the fact that you are privy to the insecurity issues on our mother campus (Main Campus) and I believe you are putting measures in place to solve them.
It is, in this same vein that I wish to also draw your attention to the dreadful and woeful off-campus security plights Accra City Campus students also face.
Sir, as you are well aware, despite the fact that the Accra City Campus is a non-residential campus, the last lecture for everyday runs through to as late as 8:30pm.
Students who fortunately or unfortunately have to attend lectures at this time are definitely open to danger and threat after closure.
There have been several cases where students have been attacked and robbed of valuables at knifepoint around the campus on their way back to their various destinations.
This is to say that, Off-campus security is a problem for students of the Accra City Campus and needs a pragmatic remedy.
Let’s not wait for a student to be brutalized there too before we rise on this matter.
I am of an optimistic conviction that, you cherish students on the satellite campuses just like you do cherish those on the main campus so, I plead with you to extend the measures you and the management are putting in place to ensure security on the main campus to the Accra City Campus to get this plight pushed off us.
Mr. Vice-chancellor, I admonish that University management takes this plea into consideration.
