Management of the University of Ghana Computing System (UGCS) have called for calm among students as it continues to work to ensure that the upgraded Management Information System also known as MIS Web sits well with students.
After a temporal shutdown of the MIS Web, it was brought back online earlier this week with some new features.
With the upgrade, marks obtained in a course was added to the ‘Academic Record’ tab.
Also, the profile photo of the user could be seen.
Options such as, CGPA, GPA among others were however removed from the site.
Students were however not satisfied with the new features that had come with the upgrade.
They took to several social media platforms to express their displeasure.
Responding to the concerns of students Deputy Chief IT Office for Infrastructure Support at UGCS, Kofi Boakye, assured students that his outfit was working relentlessly to resolve all issues that users were experiencing with the new platform.
He explained that the upgrade had come to make things easier for lecturers when they are entering the grades of students.
“…when lecturers entering grades of students, they enter it one by one and it was creating a lot of issues for lecturers. But this one will give the capability of the lecturer once they have recorded the marks to upload at once,” he said.
Mr. Boakye further said that there are certain things that are not to be made available for student to see because of database restrictions and accessibility.
“There are certain things you did not need to see, but if you need to see them, you would have access to it. Everything that is needed, students will have access to it and everything is going to be perfect”.
