Newly sworn in president of the University of Ghana Student Representative Council (SRC), Isaac Agyemang, has assured students that his administration will act on their core mandate with an action-oriented approach devoid of lip service.
According to him, the period of advocating for the interest of students just by word of mouth is over.
He said his administration will pursue a more concrete approach, beyond the usual talks, in addressing student-related issues.
“I believe that we’ve moved from an age where advocacy is more or less just unleashing mere words and then not having an action attached to such words.
We would, as our slogan suggested ‘an action packed agenda’, take an action oriented approach to student issues to finding pragmatic solutions not just giving mere assurances” he explained
He further added that he would see to the accomplishment of some unfinished ‘businesses’ of the immediate past administration led by Sylvester Amoako
“I think former President Sylvester Amoako did his possible best and of course there were certain projects and programs that I would also continue. For instance he begun the whole UGEL issue which has assumed cardinality on our scale of preference as University of Ghana student.
People are eager to know more. So I’m looking at taking it up and ensuring that what he started ends well and make sure that the students are not hijacked by outrageous prices” he affirmed
He indicated that his administration are resolved to addressing the pressing issues students are faced with and called for the collaboration of all and sundry in fighting for the welfare of students.
