Vice-president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says that the government is on course in its quest to provide Senior High School and tertiary institutions with free internet access on their various campuses.
Speaking at the launch of the NPP’s 2020 manifesto in the Central Region on Saturday, August 22, 2020, Dr. Bawumia said that a contract has already been awarded for the project.
He added that the Electricity Company of Ghana was working on installing fibre network across the country.
He was hopeful that the project will be completed by next year.
“We will also complete the provision of free WiFi at all Senior secondary schools and public tertiary institutions. The process has started, the contract has already been awarded. Even before the end of the year, we will be starting from the ECG perspective on tertiary institutions. But insha’Allah by next year, we expect most of the work, if not all, our senior high schools and tertiary to have free wi-fi for their studies,” he said.
