Junior Common Room President of the Legon Hall of the University of Ghana, Desmond Anterkyi has explained his hall’s choice of settling on Shatta Wale as the main act for the climax of their hall week celebration.
In an interview with UniversNews, Anterkyi underscored that the dancehall act was billed to perform as he was capable of getting the crowd the hall was looking forward to host.
Using the Ga phrase ‘WΩGBE JEKE’ as their theme for the week long celebration, some residents were expecting that popular dancehall musician, Stonebwoy, would be the main performer as he had already composed a hit song with the theme.
However, speaking on the issue, Desmond Anterkyi said that he did not believe that Stonebwoy could have garnered the kind of crowd Shatta Wale would pull during the hall’s artiste night on Saturday.
“Our main motive was that since it was wogb3 j3k3, we considered bringing Stonebwoy, but upon second thoughts, we settled on Shatta Wale because Shatta Wale is one of the most influential musicians in Ghana and has the capacity of giving us the crowd we want. I doubt Stonebwoy can give us a huge crowd. Shatta Wale coming to Legon Hall is the biggest thing to ever hit UG campus”
Key among other artists to join Shatta Wale on stage are: Sista Afia, S3fa, Kwamz & Flava, Dope Nation, Rudebwoy Ranking, Freda Rhymez, Danny Beatz, Lil Shaker, Article Wan, Lord Paper, Dahlin Gage, Kobla Jnr, Adepa.
