Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu says that the University of Ghana Medical Centre is ready to be used as a COVID19 treatment centre.
Briefing the press on Wednesday, Kwaku Agyemang Manu disclosed that about 33 beds at the facility were going to used for treatment coronavirus patients.
The Minister also says an agreement has been reached with the Bank of Ghana to use their hospital as a treatment facility as well.
“We have had engagements with Bank of Ghana and they have released two floors to take care of twenty beds for our use. Because the facility doesn’t belong to Ministry of Health, Bank of Ghana has agreed that their own people and some VIP personnel will be allowed there,” he said
Ghana has so far confirmed 195 cases of the novel coronavirus, with the Greater Accra Region having the largest share, 174.
The Northern and Ashanti Regions follow with 10 and 9 cases respectively.
Both the Upper West and Eastern Regions have recorded one case respectively.
The Minister says that that most of the cases being recorded now are of general surveillance in the population.
