The Electoral Commission of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) has disclosed that new dates will be assigned to all the activities on the 2021 SRC electoral calendar that were postponed.
Speaking to UniversNews, Deputy Electoral Commissioner of the SRC, Bright Siaw stated that all relevant stakeholders will be informed as soon as the commission releases these dates.
“At the moment we have postponed the debate and we indicated that the commission would announce the new dates to all relevant stakeholders. So in the coming weeks, we will ensure that we will announce the new dates for all these activities,” he said on Campus Exclusive.
The Electoral Commission earlier postponed the debate for candidates participating in this year’s SRC elections.
The debate was scheduled to come off on Monday, 23, August 2021.
However, a notice from the Deputy Electoral Commissioner of the SRC, Bright Siaw on Sunday, August 22, 2021, indicated that the date for the debate has been “shelved” and that a new date would be announced soon.
“The debate for SRC candidates slated for 23rd August 2021 has been shelved. The Commission shall have a new date fixed for the said activity in no time,” it said.
Other activities like the candidate balloting, which was scheduled for August 6, 2021, were also postponed by the Electoral Commission.
