#UGDecides: SRC General Assembly approves 70% as pass mark for 2019 SRC vetting

The Electoral Commission of the Students’ Representative Council at the University of Ghana has formally announced that this year’s SRC re-election is coming off on Tuesday, 30th April 2019.

The Commission indicated in a press release today that the re-elections which will take place at the Jean Nelson Aka Hall and the Korle-bu Campus polling stations will be between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This new development follows the decision of the Judicial Board of the University of Ghana’s SRC to overrule the decision of the SRC Electoral Commission to annul the polling results of some four polling stations.

The Board however ordered for fresh elections to be held at two of the polling stations only – Korle-bu campus and Jean Nelson Aka Hall polling stations – holding valid, the polling results from the Mensah Sarbah Hall and Commonwealth Hall polling stations.

The Electoral Commission has thus called on students yet to cast their votes to march to their respective polling stations with their ID cards or Provisional ID cards for identification and verification in order to be issued a ballot sheet; a requirement as stated is non-negotiable.

The Commission also added that Presiding Officers present at the respective polling stations will ensure the conduct of the elections in a ”fair, transparent and credible manner” while urging candidates, their supporters and the general public to be of decent conduct during the voting process.

For clarification purposes, students are entreated to note the respective places of the candidates on the ballot sheets to be issued:

PRESIDENCY

Isaac Agyemang & Louis Banahene Owusu: Number one (1)

Julius Kwame Anthony & Kwaku Asante Bismark: Number two (2)

SECRETARY

Mercy Winifred Duncan: Number one (1)

Denise Kagal Abaniaba: Number two (2)

TREASURER

Delvin Kwame Addae: Number one (1)

Sarbah Andam: Number two (2)

Perry Agyarko: Number three (3)
