The Electoral Commission of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council has opened nominations for the election of Executive Officers for the school’s SRC for the 2019/2020 academic year.
This is to allow prospective candidates contest in the upcoming SRC elections fixed for April 10.
A statement signed by Roland Tettey, Chairman of the UG SRC electoral commission said, the nominations which opens on Sunday, March 17, 12:00am will close on Sunday, March 24, at 6:00pm.
The statement said, interested candidates can contact the SRC electoral commissioners(Chairman or any of the two deputies) to pick up nominations forms.
The statement again said positions to be vied for are; President, Vice President, General Secretary, and Treasurer.
To be eligible to contest in the election, applicants must be students of the University as well as satisfy all requirements under the Article 29(1) and 30(1, 2, 3) of the SRC constitution.
Successful applicants will however be subject to vetting by the Electoral Commission after close of nominations before a final decision is made to determine their eligibility to contest.
OPENING OF NOMINATIONS FOR SRC EXECUTIVE OFFICES
Pursuant to Article 36 of the SRC Constitution, the SRC Electoral Commission through this communique, hereby serve notice to the general student body that nominations have been opened for the Executive Officers portfolios of the SRC President &Vice, General Secretary and Treasurer) for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Students who are interested in the above mentioned Executive Portfolios are required to :
(a) Satisfy all the provisions granted under Article 30(1,2,3) of the SRC Constitution.
(b) Pick nomination forms directly from the SRC Electoral Commissioners,i.e, the Chairperson or any of the two deputies.
Nomination forms shall be served with a copy of the Constitutional Instrument(C.I) governing the elections for onward perusal, in fulfilment of the requirements provided in the C. I and by extension, in the nomination forms.
NB: No nomination form shall be received outside the stated date and time.
