A candidate in the 2019 University of Ghana Students Representative Council Election is dismayed by the absence of his name in the electoral register at his polling station.
Louis Banahene Owusu who is vying to be a vice president as running-mate to Isaac Agyeman, was met with disappointed after not being able to verify his identity as his name was not found in the database of electorates for the Korle Bu Campus polling station.
Speaking to Univers News, Mr. Owusu called on the Electoral Commission to bring finality to the issues of missing names in the electoral register for this years’ UGSRC election.
“Even as an aspirant my name is not in the system, what are you telling me. Please I believe that something has to be done to rectify the system. Sanity has to be restored,” Banahene said.
Some residents of the University of Ghana Medical School have been met with the same challenge as their names could not be found in the database available to the EC officials at the station. Efforts directed at getting the Electoral Commission to respond to these challenges have proven futile.
Most of these Medical Students are in the same academic level with Louis Banahene.
Louis Owusu Banahene is a level 400 Medical student.
