Junior Common Room (JCR) executives of the Commonwealth Hall have declared their unflinching support for running mate of Anthony Julius in the 2019 University of Ghana Students Representative Council election, Kwaku Asante Bismark.
The JCR executives of the hall also threw their support for candidate for the Treasurer office Perry Agyarko.
Kwaku Asante Bismark and Perry Agyarko are both residents of the Commonwealth Hall.
The decision by the Commonwealth Hall is in similar fate as executives of the Elizabeth Frances Sey hall also endorsed the candidature of presidential candidate Julius K. Anthony, a resident of their hall.
In a statement signed by all JCR executives of the Commonwealth, they stressed both Kwaku Asante and Perry Agyarko have shown “strong leadership with competence, institutional memory, integrity and advocacy to be able to stand for all students in matters concerning their academics, security, welfare and social needs.
They explained that the two, Kwaku Asante and Perry Agyarko, demonstrated great leadership qualities by serving at various levels of the leadership at the hall.
Below is the full statement from the Commonwealth Hall.
NOTICE: PRESS RELEASE; COMMONWEALTH HALL ENDORSES BISMARK KWAKU ASANTE AND PERRY AGYARKO
In organizations, institutions and the world all over, there are two main reasons why leaders must be chosen based on Competence; either their Ideas best meet the demands of the people or better solve the problems of the people.
It is in the face of this fact that the leadership of the COMMONWEALTH HALL JCR and the entire membership of the hall humbly declare our unflinching support and solidarity for Bismark Kwaku Asante who is a Vice Presidential candidate of Julius Anthony Kwame, and Perry Agyarko who is also running for the office of the SRC treasurer.
As students and members of the COMMONWEALTH HALL, we believe in strong leadership with competence, institutional memory, integrity and advocacy to be able to stand for all students in matters concerning their academic, security, welfare and social needs, we believe in a leadership that would not compromise on the very needs of students nor grandstand on hot-button issues which threatens the complete wellbeing of students. We believe in a leadership that flows in the sequence of truth and accountability which are the tenets of selfless service to humanity.
Bismark Kwaku Asante and Perry Agarko had demonstrated the aforementioned qualities by serving at various levels of the leadership of the hall as distinguished members of the Commonwealth House of Lords and we therefore declare our support for them in their bid to serve students at the leadership level and we also humbly call on the entire student populace to vote for them come the election day.
this should not be an election where we just vote on cheap propaganda or on purported empathy as others are doing but we should stand for the truth and vote for competence, altruism, and sheer dint of hardwork. We beseech all students not to just hope and wish for a competent leadership but also reckon the fact to vote for one and the time to do so is now as we go to the polls. A vote for Julius Kwame Anthony and Bismark Kwaku Asante, and Perry Agyarko is not just a vote for a leadership that is proud to humbly serve you but also it is a vote for a leadership that can risk everything including their lives to serve you in truth and honesty
May the University of Ghana SRC leadership be the best there is to be.
May God bless and make the University of Ghana great again.
