Two persons have been arrested by security officials at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for stealing blood.
They have been handed over to the Police for investigations.
The two are said to have attempted to steal pints of blood from the hospital’s surgical department.
In a statement from the hospital, it mentioned that the arrested was done through a special operation.
“The activities of the group came to the attention of the security on a tip-off. They then mounted surveillance that eventually led to the arrest of the suspects this morning around 2 am,” part of the statement reads.
At the time of the arrest, one of the suspects had disguised himself as a health professional, hospital officials disclosed.
His accomplice, however, was waiting outside in a car parked around the hospital’s administration block.
Hospital officials have urged their staff to be vigilant and be quick to report any suspected activity to security officials.
